Garbage pick-up is every Wednesday. Please have the cart out by 6:00 AM.
Recycling pick-up information is at dmcwaste.org.
Cart Placement
Carts must face the street with wheels towards the house. Carts must be 5 ft away from and other objects, including each cart.
Holiday Schedule – 2025
Labor Day: Trash will Be Collected Thursday 09/04/2025.
The following holidays will be collected on your normal scheduled day:
July 4th, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day.
If you are uncertain about your holiday schedule, please place your garbage out by 6:00 AM on your regular collection day, and we will ensure to pick it up by 4:00 PM the next day.

Spring Clean-up Schedule
Friday April 17th, 2026
The City of Salem will have a container west of the Fire Station from 8AM until 11:AM for tires. (Limit 6 per household)
ITEMS NEED TO BE CURBSIDE BY 6AM
ITEMS ACCEPTED
Misc. household unwanted items, including up to (2) furniture items.
Window & Door (1 of each, per household)
Regular household food waste
Carpet rolled and tied in 6ft length (1 roll per household)
Appliances: washers, dryers, water heaters, refrigerators, a/c units, microwaves, and stoves. (No food waste or trash in appliances)
Misc scrap metal items
Used Oil – 5 gal limit
Dried latex paint only – no other chemical waste will be allowed.
Misc trash must be bagged or boxed. Loose trash will not be taken.
Piles cannot exceed 8ft x 8ft and 3 ft high.
TVs and Monitors require a bulk sticker ($30) sold at City Hall.

No construction or demolition material
We will not rake or scoop up loose piles of trash thrown at the curb.
